2021 Minors Draft 1st Round Pick (1.15, Originally Atlanta’s)
MINNESOTA LOGIC: I am sending away the (likely) 2020 NL Cy Young Winner, which is certainly not easy to do. I am also moving a former MVP (Stanton) and a player with tons of upside if he can stay healthy (Buxton). I was looking to move Stanton’s salary in the right deal. The trade made sense to me because it supplies me with excellent MiLB depth. I am pretty high on all the prospects I received. Larnach is an impressive player, who I especially like for OBP. GrayRod is a stud in the making, but is still very young. Kremer and Antone should have an immediate impact since they are MLB ready. Harvey was a nice addition since I can pair him with Tanner Scott in my bullpen. #InMikeEliasWeTrust. I also liked the idea of getting a first rounder since I dealt one of mine to acquire J-Ram. I did give up a lot to get these prospects - Bauer should be a top dynasty pitcher for years to come, Stanton is one of the top power bats in baseball, Buxton started to really put it together in 2020, and Cavaco is a prospect with good upside. This trade effectively meets both of our needs.
It was very nice working with Matt on this deal! I enjoyed the back-and-forth this week. Thank you and good luck.
