Baltimore and New York Trade

[Baltimore Padres (Matt)]

Baltimore sends:
Lance McCullers Jr. (P - HOU) 2021: $2M, 2022: $3M
Maximo Acosta (SS - TEX) - prospect
Glenallen Hill Jr. (2B/SS - ARI) prospect

New York sends:
Tim Anderson (SS - CWS) 2021: $1M, 2022: $2M, 2023: $3M
Carson Kelly (C - ARI) 2021-24: $500k

This deal gives me a cheaper option at SS, and I'm hoping he can give me some power and speed as well. Kelly was brutal last year after being pretty good in 2019. He doesn't have much competition in Baltimore, as prior to this trade, my two catchers were Astudillo + Empty Slot. I'm hoping he can bounce back and give me a cheap catching option.

I didn't like giving up McCullers, as he was good in his return this year. He's the sort of guy that the short season might help next year as well. I also had to part with two of my favorite toolsy MI prospects in Acosta and Hill, and sent another draft pick away. Overall, I had to give up some present and future value, but I hope that I shored up two positions on my team.

NY Logic while I hated giving up Anderson as well as giving up on Kelly, I needed good pitching, McCullers had a great bounce back year and i'm hoping for more good years moving forward, absolutely love Acosta and Hill, Matts willingness to add the pick closed the deal, thanks to Matt for the back and forth!
