Baltimore and Minnesota Trade

[Baltimore Padres (Matt)]

The Baltimore Padres and Minnesota Mets have agreed to a deal.

Baltimore sends:
Lorenzo Cain (OF - MIL) 2021: $15M

Minnesota sends:
2021 milb pick 11.2 (pick originally belonged to the Toronto Diamondbacks)

This could be a great deal for Bailey, as I think Cain can still be productive at the top of the Brewers' order. I just didn't have room for Cain, as my off-season deals put me over the salary cap and the 40-man limit. I could have just released him, but this way I can add a late-round lotto ticket instead of dropping him for nothing. Nice working with Bailey again!

I agree to this trade.

My OF depth is rather thin but I have plenty of cap space so I figured Cain is worth taking a shot on. I’m still mad about him being the 2014 ALCS MVP against my Orioles, but whatever lol. I like Minors Draft picks so I wasn’t necessarily looking to move the pick but I figure this deal gives me a better chance of competing in 2021. Great working with Matt again! Thanks.
