Baltimore and Cleveland have agreed to a trade:
Baltimore sends:
Dominic Smith - NYM (1B,LF) 2021: $500,000, 2022: $500,000 Cristian Javier - HOU (SP) 2021: $500,000, 2022: $500,000, 2023: $500,000, 2024: $500,000
Cleveland sends: Gary Sanchez - NYY (C) 2021: $1M, 2022: $2M, 2023: $3M
I love Smith and Javier, but my catching situation wasn't looking so hot. Sanchez might not be the solution (2020 was pretty ugly), but I was willing to take a shot. Nice working with Brian on this one.

Agree with trade. Trading a top catcher is always tough since the position is so thin, but I like the value of Smith and Javier in return, both of whom had mini-breakouts in 2020 and have cheap contracts for the next couple of years. Sanchez can be a tough player to own requiring patience to own through his slumps, but when he is locked in, there are few better power options at the catcher position. I generally don't like to trade players after down years so I think this was a good buy-low opportunity for Matt but I valued the future potential of Smith and Javier a bit more.
Nice working with Matt and good luck on the 2021 season!
